08.25.08 | James Ackley John,
Justin Bartels told me about you winning the gig and I wanted to drop you a line and say congrats! Its been awhile since we last hung out, I hope life is going well for you. Hope to see you again sometime soon,
Jim
04.27.08 | Erik Hasselquist Hey John,
Enjoyed looking through your site. Looks really great man. Still enjoying NM? I heard that Liam has been playing second to you out there.
Hey man, I wanted to let you know that I'm starting up as an adjunct professor at Cleveland State in the fall, and that I have some scholarship money, including a couple tuition waivers for students. If you know of anyone that is still looking for a school, send them my way. I just got the word that I'm on for next year, so I'm scrambling. We're going to be doing some cool stuff with the orchestra, so even though the kids would be stuck with me for the most part, they will have contact with the Cleveland Orchestra Trumpet Section as well as some of the heavy commercial guys in town.
All the best,
Erik
02.19.08 | Jay D. Zweifel Remember you well in high school & also how good of a musician you were in "band." It's always a pleasure to know when other students you went to high school with; (me class of '88) continue on in the music and arts that they enjoyed in high school. Keep up the great work. If you still listen to Rush records maybe check out The Blood Shot on My Space @ myspace/thebloodshot.com. Remember music theory class with Ms. Allen? Do you still have the piano composition we had to create for her in class? lol
12.01.07 | Alex Vaver Hi John: Impressive web site! You've come a long way since I first heard you at Lincoln Middle School. I remember fondly all the different music we made at Central H.S. Your performance with the LSO at Viterbo was spectacular. If you are in LaCrosse this summer I'd love to feature you with the LaCrosse Concert Band. 6/25/08 we're at Viterbo FA. Later.....
10.20.07 | Michael Arndt AWESOME WEBSITE. GREAT WORK JOHN. I HERE FROM DAVE AND AMANDA THAT YOU ARE DOING GREAT. IT SURE APPEARS SO.
THINGS ARE GREAT IN NASHVILLE. I WOULD LOVE TO CATCH UP SOMETIME SOON.

10.18.07 | Adrian Griffin John,
How are you my friend? It's been such a long time. It seems as if you are doing well. I am so happy for you.
Right now I am playing acting fourth trumpet with the Virginia Symphony and just won the position as co-principal with the Orchestra de Sinfonia of Monterrey in MX and leave this May.
It would be great to see you sometime soon and catch up on things.
Take care and I look forward to hearing from you and us getting together sometime.
visit www.adriangriffin.com sometime if you want to.
Talk to you soon,
10.14.07 | Richard Beauchamp John,
I often feel very fortunate to have had you as a mentor/teacher/coach, helping me to focus on what's important in playing - that would be of course the music - and sound.
And so I enjoyed so much hearing you play at your recital Thursday - your sound and musicaiity still inspire me (and Rhonda too -but what do oboists know).
I wish I could have spent more time with you and Bobby at Scalos, but my ride got sleepy.
Be well,
Richard
09.27.07 | Jeanne West (Liz's mom) Liz West (Fugate), her sons, Andrew age 11, Joseph age 9, and I will be watching you perform on Oct. 20 in LaCrosse. Though I'm sure we'll enjoy hearing you play, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will ever be so grand to me as when you and Liz did your "I can't stop loving you" duet at Central High School!!
08.18.07 | Jason Adams Hey John!
Not sure if you remember me from Aspen many years ago, but just wanted to drop you a line and tell you your site looks great! I've been reading that Trumpet Herald BB for a long time and just put together that you are "BrewBlue", awesome stuff! I got smart and moved to the South a couple of years ago too (my wife and I live in Houston).
Take care of yourself, John, and congratulations on all your success!
07.29.07 | Theresa Marchiando(sison) Dude you sound sweet. Great webpage I'm so happy for you. Little Cole (our baby) says hello. Take Care and Love You Theresa
07.25.07 | Amy Dawson John - Congratuations on all of your recent successes. I was thinking about you and thought I would google you to see if there was anything out there. Wow - flashy website and everything. Looks like life is treating you well and I think even your Brewers are doing OK.
07.17.07 | Derek Reaban I really enjoyed getting to see you at the opera last Summer. This is the first year in MANY years that I will not be making the trip (we are going to Hawaii on Friday and will get to stay a week!) I see that you are playing in La Boheme (I certainly wish that I could attend).
The web site looks great! Congratulations for all the good things that are going on in your life since the move to NM. It really looks like you’ve fallen into a good situation.
Benny and Jim are both doing well and I have really enjoyed working with Cal Stewart Kellogg who has been with the Mesa Symphony now for 2 seasons. It’s amazing how much he has been able to elevate the quality of the ensemble!
Enjoy that cool weather in Santa Fe (it was 112F here yesterday).
Take care,
Derek
07.03.07 | Chris Roberts John - Good seeing you last weekend. I hope to catch one of your performances some day. Have you ever heard from Leslie Wille? I have wondered where she ended up. Good luck & take care - Chris
07.02.07 | Craig A Sheffield Hi John,
I'm sorry I missed you at the Class Reunion here in La Crosse. I am disabled now, and my back was out. I am very proud to hear that you have made it so far in the music world. I still play the trumpet for church, along with the piano and organ. I have one trumpet and 2 cornets at this time. The trumpet is a 1951 Olds Special. I love the sound of it. I rescued it from a dumpster of a foundation that was being torn down. Someone just threw it away. I repaired it and restored it, and it is a beautiful instrument today. I even found out it's history. I'm not sure if you remember me (I played tuba in high school), but I remember you from high school and Lincoln middle school as a great trumpeteer.
06.28.07 | Holly Korzilius I have no idea why, but you popped into my mind while I was sitting at work, so I googled you. Its so refreshing to see that one of the people from Armando Ghitala's studio has been successful!
I'm not sure if you will remember me, but I was a couple years behind you at the University of Michigan. I was *not* able to make are career in music. I ended up spending 10 years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and am currently an IT Risk & Security Consultant with Ernst & Young in NYC.
Congratulations and may your sucess continue!
Holly
06.27.07 | Jeff Grogan John! I had no idea where you were, but Brian Gill pointed me to your website...very impressive. I am Neeme Jarvi's Asst. with the New Jersey Symphony. My wife just got a job in charge of tax for Saks Fifth Ave. corporation. Life is good here on the Hudson. Let me know if you are ever in town. Congrats on all the successes!
Jeff Grogan (from the old days at Michigan)
06.27.07 | Brian Gill John.
What a great site! Congratulations on you recent appointment to the faculty of the University of New Mexico and the New Mexico Symphony!
I am living in Jersey City and work as the Corporate Travel Manager at Continental Guest Services in Times Square! Haven't played the horn in awhile ...
Great to reconnect!
Brian
06.07.07 | WALLY Man, I love the site! Who knew you were that good? Well.....I did, but not everyone can share my truely genuine admiration!

05.12.07 | David Athey Hi John, do you remember me from central high? Over the years, I've often thought of our high school times and just now got around to doing a web search. Judging from your website and resume it looks like you've done real good!
I've been in Germany ever since I finished college and now live and work in Hamburg.
It's cool to have seen you in the web. I just wanted to say hi. Drop me a line if you find the time.
David
